DANIELLE NICOLE

Danielle N. Askew began her dance training at the Metropolitan School of the Arts in Alexandria, Virginia, under the direction of Melissa Dobbs and Sara Hart. She trained in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Tap, and Hip Hop, and completed Level 8 of the Royal Academy of Dance Certificate Program under Leslie Sherrer.

In 2012, Danielle pursued her passion for Modern dance and enrolled at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), earning her BFA in Dance and Choreography in 2016. During her time at VCU, she worked with renowned artists including Christian von Howard, Maria Bauman, and Doug Varone. She also performed at the American Dance Festival in 2015 and participated in the interdisciplinary "PALLETTE" program, collaborating with students in physical therapy, gerontology, and local seniors.

Danielle took extensive pedagogy coursework through VCU’s School of Education, which fueled her passion for teaching. She spent over five years as an instructor at West End Academy of Dance in Richmond, Virginia, where she found inspiration in her students' dedication and creativity.

In 2020, a new opportunity brought Danielle to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where she continues to share her love for dance with communities across the globe.

"I believe dance is a deeply human act—one that honors vulnerability, instinct, and the full spectrum of emotion. At its core, dance should nurture the individual behind the movement, recognizing the dancer not just as a performer, but as a whole person with physical, emotional, and psychological needs. I strive to create environments where dancers feel seen, supported, and safe to take creative risks. When we care for the dancer as a human, we unlock a more authentic, resilient, and expressive artist."
