Mandingue | Dance, Rhythm & Culture Workshop
From the movements of the body blending with rhythm and music, participants will step into the world of Mandingue dance, a vibrant and living tradition of West Africa.
About the Workshop
This event is organised by: Institut Français du Vietnam (French Institute of Vietnam)
Mandingue dance is a traditional West African dance from Guinea, Mali and Senegal. Dancers and drummers respond to each other, so music and movement become one. It is energetic, grounded and joyful, and open to everyone, with no experience needed.
Through body movement in harmony with rhythm and music, participants step into the world of Mandingue dance, a vibrant and living tradition of West Africa.
Through hands-on practice and direct experience, the workshop offers an opportunity to explore the characteristic movements of Mandingue, learn about the role of dance in everyday life and traditional societies, and develop a sense of rhythm, body mastery, and a movement language of one’s own.
