Dancenter is pleased to be the co-organizer for this workshop, held as part of the “Dealing in Distance” mobile festival.
About Workshop

Led by dancer Noutnapha Soydala, this workshop opens a space to play with movements. In the first session, participants are invited to observe and move in accordance with unique rhythms of their bodies and feelings - bending, twisting, swaying, drifting, dancing. After that, the artist will teach some choreography inspired by Lao folk dance, hip-hop techniques, and movements drawn from personal experiences, humans and nonhumans she has encountered.
Initiated by the Goethe-Institut in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, and Manila in 2023, “Dealing in Distance” brings together artists based in Southeast Asia and Germany to explore themes of migration and identity across distance.
This workshop has two phases, welcoming all styles and levels.
Phase 1: Movement Generation & Shared Phrasing (45 minutes)
Phase 2: Learning Choreography & Fusion (45 minutes)
